Excluding textile acrylic fiber use, SAS acts as copolymerizable sulfonate monomer or auxiliary additive across construction, water treatment, oilfield, electroplating, coatings, pharmaceuticals and daily chemicals.

1. Construction Industry: Polycarboxylate Superplasticizer Monomer

SAS copolymerizes with TPEG macromonomer and acrylic acid to produce polycarboxylate mother liquid for concrete:

  • Introduce sulfonate anions to boost electrostatic repulsion, enhance slump retention and anti-mud performance for sand with high clay content
  • Moderate chain transfer activity to stabilize polymer molecular weight, avoid excessive viscosity of finished admixture
  • Improve hard water tolerance, reduce concrete segregation and bleeding; widely used in ready-mix concrete, high-speed rail and precast components
