3. Chemical Characteristic
Dual functional groups:
- Allyl vinyl group (CH₂=CH–): Free radical copolymerizable monomer
- Sulfonate anion (–SO₃Na): Strong hydrophilicity, surface adsorptionCompatible with acrylic monomers, acrylamide, acrylic acid; Incompatible with strong oxidants and concentrated strong acid.
4. Typical Industrial Applications
- Electroplating: Main brightener for acid nickel plating; grain refiner for Cu, Zn, Ni-Co alloy baths
- Polymer Industry: Third monomer for acrylic fiber; co-monomer for water treatment scale inhibitors & dispersants
- Textile Auxiliaries: Antistatic agent, dye levelling agent
- Emulsion polymerization modifier & fine chemical intermediate

- Nickel electroplating bath: 0.1 – 5 g/L
- Water treatment copolymer synthesis: 2 – 8 mol% of total monomers
- Acrylic fiber production: 3 – 5 wt% addition

- Isolate from strong oxidizers, strong acid and food chemicals
